Bangers and Mash

Ingredients

1/2 tbsp oil

8 sausages of choice

1 large onion , halved and finely sliced

2 garlic cloves , minced

3 tbsp flour (plain)

2 cups beef stock/broth

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Mashed potatoes

Peas

Directions

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add sausages and cook until browned as much as possible all over.

Remove sausages onto a plate. Turn heat down to medium.

You need around 2 tbsp oil left in the skillet. If you have much less, add a bit of butter or oil. If you have more, remove some.

Add onion and garlic and cook until golden brown.

Add flour and mix through. Cook, stirring constantly for 3 minutes.

Slowly add the beef broth and mix into the onion. Simmer, stirring frequently, until the gravy thickens. Add salt and pepper. Stir, taste, then add more salt if you want.

Serve sausages with mashed potatoes, a generous serving of gravy and peas on the side.

Notes

*For a gravy shortcut, make store bought brown gravy. Saute your onions and garlic, use paper towel to remove excess fat, then stir them together.
